Experience
Hi! My name is Farid, and I am a graduate from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelors degree in mathematics and a minor in business administration. I have extensive knowledge in a variety of math subjects, including Algebra II, Pre Calculus, Calculus 1 - 4, and AP Calculus, plus a myriad of college-level math courses including differential equations, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and entry level probability and statistics. I have been a math tutor since August 2004 and have tutored every subject listed above. I find the most effective teaching methods are those in which the tutor makes every effort to relate to the student's thought processes. I actively listen to my students' needs and work efficiently with them to ensure they are understanding every aspect of a problem. I do not proceed forward with any material until the student has displayed a solid grasp of the problem at hand. This ensures a productive and positive learning environment, and permits the most efficient use of time. I had some challenges with math as a high school student, particularly with algebra and calculus. But, thanks to some patient teachers, I learned and mastered those concepts that I had the most difficulty with, and I am now able to give back to others through teaching. One of the most helpful approaches in tutoring that I have found is the ability to approach the explanation of a given problem through multiple examples, using different scenarios to help the student gain a better grasp of the subject. These are the methods I have used throughout my years of tutoring, and they have proven to be highly successful. I have watched my students excel in mathematics and go on to exceptional universities, such as Duke and UCLA. I am confident in the subjects I tutor, and I look forward to helping every student reach his or her fullest potential.
