Experience

Hi! Thank you for reading my profile. I have been teaching and tutoring for over 10 years. I am a multi-faceted tutor who understands the diverse needs of students with language goals. Whether you need my assistance for school, work, tests, or personal interest, I will help you meet your goals. I've worked with a variety of ages and from different programs: UCSD Early Education Outreach Program, ACES, MIIS ESL Programs and Graduate Writing Center, Kaplan International, ELS Language Centers, UC Berkeley Extension and UC Irvine Extension. I also lived and worked in Mexico for one year and consider myself fluent in Spanish. Over these past 10 years, I have taught English/ESL to native and non-native speakers of various ages of students and I feel comfortable tutoring any age. Additionally, I've had many business professionals and STEM major students. I enjoy tutoring Spanish, but feel most competent working with beginning and intermediate students. I've worked with elementary and high school students, as well as adult professionals. For English/ESL, I can teach complete beginners to very advanced students. I also have taught and/or tutored students in TOEFL iBT, IELTS, and TOEIC. I have given writing feedback to many students: personal statements, cover letters, research papers, academic 5-paragraph essays, test preparation essays - you name it, I've worked with someone! Overall, I think my main specialties are writing, grammar, speaking and pronunciation. I also enjoy teaching literacy, phonics, and vocabulary. I am very tech oriented and like to utilize various websites and apps to also meet your needs. If you're not tech-oriented, that's ok, too! I enjoy getting to know students so that the lessons I create are the right fit for them. I also think it's incredibly important to build a student's confidence! I consider myself a very patient, adaptable, supportive, and encouraging teacher who meets the needs of my students. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

Hobbies

When I'm not social with family and friends, I spend my time reading, writing, cooking, listening to new music, and exercising. I babysit my nephews pretty often and like to travel when I get the opportunity. Most people would define me as a people person! This is definitely true. I'm a great listener and love partaking in activities with people like hiking, dancing, and more!
